Chris currently works as senior research fellow at the University of Central Lancashire and as a sports scientist for Lille FC in the French Ligue 1. He has previously worked as a consultant for the performance analysis department at Manchester Utd FC and the medical department at the Clairefontaine National Football Centre in France. Chris has a Ph.D. in sports science and has authored 2 books and over 50 peer-reviewed research papers related to sports science and medicine.
Vosse de Boode, now head of science AFC Ajax, started working at Ajax as a sports biomechanist in 2011, responsible for the Adidas mi- Coach Performance Centre. With her background in both exercise physiology and biomechanics she combines multiple data sources in order to provide fast and practical answers to complex physical, technical, and tactical football questions.
She applies scientific knowledge and uses sports analysis and technology to support the performance of the A-selection and the development of the youth academy of Ajax.
Examples of the responsibilities of the science team she coordinates are: tracking and monitoring; physiological and physical skill testing; development of movement analysing tests and methods (like physiological workload, tactical parameters, reaction time, gaze behaviour, speed-strength relations, gait analysis, fast shot analysis, goalkeeper dive speed). She is also initiating and realising scientific studies within the field of football in cooperation with the VU University, Amsterdam.
Werner Helsen is a professor in the department of movement sciences at KU Leuven. His research interests include expert perception and performance, talent detection and selection (including relative age and late maturity effects), and load monitoring in team sports and association football particularly. As of September 2022, Google Scholar showed 11.751 citations, H-index=53, i10-index=115. His teaching involvements are in the motor control and learning field as well as in the area of performance training in team sports and football in particular. Since 1999, he has played a prominent role in UEFA as a sports scientist and training expert. Since 2015, UEFA has also engaged him in ‘Fitness4Football’ workshops to teach national team coaches how to use GPS-based technology to make players and the game better. He was involved in six UEFA European Championships and three FIFA World Cups. He also has extensive experience in the sport science support of youth academies, professional clubs, and national teams.
Valter Di Salvo (born in Rome) is currently director of football performance & science with the Qatar Football Association and ASPIRE Academy and since 2002 full professor at University of Rome 'Foro Italico'.
Previously, Prof. Di Salvo has held senior level positions at SS Lazio, Real Madrid CF and Manchester United FC.
Prof. Di Salvo’s career in football performance extends back to 1989 with 'Serie A' club Lazio in Italy. He spent 14 years with the Rome-based club and worked under such illustrious coaches as Dino Zoff, Sven-Goran Eriksson, Alberto Zaccheroni and Roberto Mancini.
In 2003, Prof. Di Salvo was appointed head fitness coach at Real Madrid before joining Sir Alex Ferguson’s staff at Manchester United. From 2007 to 2009, he is back to Real Madrid CF as director of performance and director of the Real Madrid TEC.
Prof Di Salvo has trained top level players who have been awarded with the Gold Ball Player and FIFA World Player such as Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Ronaldo da Lima, Pavel Nedved, Fabio Canavaro and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Dr Paul Bradley is the author of the unique book ‘Football Decoded’, which was released in 2020. He is currently a Football Science Consultant for elite teams, national governing bodies and technology companies. He typically conducts translational work within an elite football setting that bridges the gap between cutting edge research and professional practice (e.g. not just research for research sake but work that adds value to the applied setting). One area he has pioneered recently is the contextualisation of match and training data and he is currently working with many elite organisations in this regard. He has published >80 papers and has >5000 citations in the science & football area.
He is a coach pro UEFA A, match analyst for the coaching staff of Italy National Team since 2010. Skilled in big data and football tactics, Antonio Gagliardi is a match analysis instructor in Coverciano (Figc). He previously worked in Sics and Opta (2002-2012).
Oliver studied sport and exercise sciences at The University of Birmingham.
Previously worked at Coventry City FC where he had completed a two-year internship. At this time, he also completed a master’s degree investigating talent identification in youth football.
Oliver joined Liverpool FC in 2011, where was responsible for providing sports science support to the 12-16s age groups. His role changed after 4.5 years, where moving into his current role of end stage rehabilitation fitness coach. He works closely with all medical staff, as well as the coaching staff to provide an efficient transition from injury.
Liveprool FC team‘s aim is to provide a productive rehabilitation back into training, focusing on the individual.
He is a coach pro UEFA A. match analyst of the Italy under 21 National Team since 2008. He participated in the Olympic Games in Beijing (2008), at 3 European Championship u-21 (2009, 2013 and 2015), and with Italy A team at UEFA European Championship in Poland and Ukraine (2012), France 2016 and at FIFA World Cup in Brasil (2014).
In 2015, Filippo was the chief of the match analysis and observer of the opponent teams for Saudi Arabian A team during the 2015 Asian Cup held in Australia. Filippo previously worked for Sics and Opta (until 2013). His club experience includes being the head of the match analysis in Ac Spezia and Fc Bari.
Ruud van Elk (1988) started working as S&C coach and sport scientist at the PSV Academy after graduating from Maastricht University (Health Sciences / Biology of Human Performance). In 2014, he became the first team’s sport scientist at the club from Eindhoven.
Furthermore, he is involved in PSV’s Fieldlab Football in which the clubs cooperates with universities and companies to develop innovative sport’s technologies and services as close to the sport as possible.
Finally Ruud teaches different courses as a guest lecturer at multiple universities and the KNVB on performance- and data analysis.
At the age of 28 he was offered to manage AAUMA, the local university team. After that, he signed for AD Camacha as an assistant manager to work for Leonardo Jardim. Leonardo Jardim then signed for Chaves and José Barros was invited to become manager of AD Camacha. He earned the 3rd division manager of the year trophy in 2009. He also got Camacha promoted to the 2nd division the same year. In following years, he also won a Madeira Cup.
In the 2012/ 2013 season, he managed Marítimo B and União da Madeira in the following year (2013/2014), both in professional league.
In 2014, he signed back with Camacha, which he coached for the next two seasons. This season he had the chance to sign with AS Monaco and rejoin Leonardo Jardim as assistant coach. A recognition of the manager (Leonardo Jardim) for his work during these years.

Gerard is the head of performance analysis with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) since March 2015. Gerard is currently a UEFA Pro Licence and MSC in sports performance analysis student, having completed a master’s in sport and exercise management in 2010 and UEFA A Licence in 2009. Gerard has worked with all Republic of Ireland International teams since 2003, spending five years as assistant head coach of the Women’s National Team.
Gerard was part of the Republic of Ireland staff that reached the 2016 UEFA European Championship and works with FAI high performance director, Ruud Dokter in leading performance analysis with 14 teams.
Håkan Ericson is a Swedish football manager. He began his coaching career in 1983 in FK Kick, till taking the lead of Swedish U21 team, managed under different positions IK Råsunda, Täby IS, AIK, Väsby IK, Vasalund, Motala AIF, Nacka FF and IFK Norrköping.
As a manager of the U21 Swedish team, has brought them to winning gold medals in Euro U21 Championship that was held in 2015 in Czech Republic. He also managed the team at the Olympic Games 2016 and Euro U21 2017.
During his work with the Swedish Football Association, he also taking positions such as chief-scout and co–trainer of the National Team in addition to organisational and teaching projects being a chief of coaching programme and implementing novel approaches which has resulted in the trophies and records broken by youth teams in the past years.
