Dr. Laurent Bannock is a consultant nutritionist, specialising in sport and exercise nutrition. Laurent has over 20 years of experience working in private practice and elite sports and is the host of the award-winning We Do Science podcast. He is also an expert in evidence-based practice, with multiple publications on the topic. Recent notable practitioner roles include being nutritionist to the Belgium Men’s National Football Team whilst they were the FIFA world number 1 ranked team. His work focuses on supporting individual health and fitness goals, from weight management to elite sports performance. Dr. Bannock is also the founder and CEO of The Institute of Performance Nutrition, an independent UK higher education institution specialising in the training and development of professional sport and exercise nutritionists. Dr. Bannock is based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he enjoys the great outdoors, sailing, and practising Thai Boxing and BJJ.
António Pedro Mendes is the head of nutrition for Sporting Clube de Portugal. He has previously worked for clubs such as FC Porto and Al Nassr FC (Saudi Arabia). He is the co-founder of Nutriens Academy, an education company focussed on teaching nutrition at the highest level. He is a frequent speaker at scientific events, with several contributions for scientific articles and international book chapters.
Peter Res is a performance nutritionist and triathlon coach. As a nutritionist, he works in pro cycling (Rabobank Cycling Teams), in football (Ajax Amsterdam), and in Olympic sports (judo, badminton, field hockey, water polo). He has conducted research in the field of exercise physiology and protein metabolism with prof. Luc van Loon at Maastricht University. He is currently working for the Dutch Olympic team (TeamNL) and developing a platform for sustainable performance nutrition.
Anna Lena van der Felden works as a performance nutritionist and chef. She started working in football in 2017, followed by experiences with the German Football Association (DFB), Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Currently, Anna serves as a coordinator of performance nutrition at DFB.
Dr James Morehen is a performance nutritionist working in professional sport and owner of Morehen Performance Ltd. He is the lead nutritionist with Bristol Bears rugby whilst supporting a world champion boxer. He has previous experience with F1, England Rugby, England Football, West Ham United. In the corporate world, James also supports nutrition strategies with blue chip companies for both performance and health. He runs The Performance Nutrition Network, as place for nutritionists to learn of each other and share experience in the applied world of sport and business.
Cristian has been a performance nutritionist for the ACF Fiorentina soccer team since September 2015. He started working with FIGC – the Italy national team – with the selection U21-U20 in January 2017. In January 2018, he became an honorary member of the European Sport Nutrition Society. From March 2018 to July 2021, Cristian was a scientific advisor for Italy to Gatorade Sport Science Institute – GSSI.
Emmy is a sports nutritionist working in football, who has a wealth of experience of working with footballers across all levels. She currently works for Sunderland AFC, with both the men's and women's first team and has previously worked as a sports nutritionist in the WSl, the highest women's league in England.
Solange de Almeida Fernandes is a sports nutritionist from Portugal, currently working in Sport Lisboa e Benfica in team sports and individual sports. She is also head of the nutrition department in the Portuguese Tennis Federation, working with some of the best Portuguese talent.
Solange has worked with male and female handball, volleyball, rugby, and athletics athletes for over seven years.
Pedro Meirinhos is a nutritionist at FC Porto (responsible for handball, basketball, and roller hockey teams) and works in several medical clinics and fitness studios where he helps mainly trail-running, crossfit, cycling, and triathlon athletes to accomplish their goals. He also lectures sports nutrition in various courses.
Since finishing his degree in nutrition sciences, Pedro has collaborated with some food industry companies like Nutripar, Prozis, and the football team Clube Desportivo Feirense.
With a passion for the importance of movement and activity, Dr. Naomi Albertson, M.D., has dedicated her career in sports medicine to assessing and treating musculoskeletal injuries and motivating her patients through recovery.Whether working with children, older adults, or professional athletes, her goal is clear: to get each patient back to the activities they love, safely and injury free. Naomi is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, fellowship trained in sports medicine at Stanford University, and is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians. In addition to orthopaedic and sports-related injuries, she specialises in assessment and management of concussion, osteoarthritis, osteopenia, osteoporosis, stress fractures, and nutritional issues associated with healing. She is also the developer of Dr. Ni’s OC2, a frame support supplement designed to keep bones healthy and muscles strong with age.
Alexandru Maftei is a performance nutritionist currently based in Romania working with elite athletes and sports teams. He graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2019 with an MSc in sport and exercise nutrition and he works as a performance nutritionist with the Romanian Swimming Federation, guiding the athletes towards the most appropriate choices in order to achieve optimal energy levels and facilitate recovery and refuelling. He has also worked within basketball with Stiinta Bucuresti and Rapid Bucuresti (men and women teams) and with the football club Petrolul Ploiesti academy.
Dr. Francesco Cagnazzo is a consultant nutritionist with over 15 years of experience working with athletes at different development stages, from adolescents to elite level.
His work focuses on integrative and individualised health, which underpins the athletes' overall performance.
Francesco has spent 8 years in higher education obtaining a PharmD and a MSc in Human Nutrition, then specializing in Advance Sports Nutrition. He is also a member of ESNS (EuropeanSociety of Sports Nutrition) and a lecturer of the very well-respected Sports Nutrition Academy in Italy.
Dr. Silvia Barbaresi has an MSc in biotechnology (La Sapienza University of Rome), a master's degree in human nutrition and metabolism (Universitat de Barcelona) and a PhD in sport nutrition (University of Ghent in Belgium & Aspire Academy of Doha in Qatar). She is a co-author of a book in the field "Microbiota and Sport" (Clorofilla Publisher - Microbioma.it) and she co-authored several scientific publications in the microbiology field as well as sport nutrition and ergogenic supplements.
In the last three years, Silvia has been focussing on the athletic gut microbiota as main field of investigation, not only in collaboration with research units in different universities, but as a clinical tool to assess the athletes' systemic inflammatory status, gastrointestinal discomfort (if any), and the impact of the gut microbial populations on endurance performance. She is currently involved in a project on human skin/gut microbiota with La Cattolica University of Rome (Italy), a project about the use of insects as alternative feeding for farming animals with Ghent University (Belgium) and Zooprofilact Institute of Lazio and Toscana (Italy), and a project about gut microbiota analysis on endurance athletes with the Split University (Croatia).
Dr. Reyhan Nergiz Unal is health and nutrition science lead at PB Leiner. She holds a doctorate degree (PhD) in medical biochemistry from the University of Maastricht and an MSc in food and nutritional sciences. Reyhan started her career as a nutritionist and dietician, after which she developed a strong experience in human nutrition and scientific research. She has been principal scientist, associate professor, and head of the research laboratories at university for several years before joining PB Leiner. Next to her work at PB Leiner, she is also lecturing as adjunct professor, focussing on the fields of human metabolism and nutritional biochemistry.
